SRN Teaching Innovation Award 2026

In September 2026, Bobette was announced as the winner of the international Screenwriting Research Network (SRN)'s Screenwriting Teaching Innovation Award 2026. The SRN states: “This award recognizes outstanding faculty scholars whose work demonstrates original approaches to supporting the teaching and learning development of screenwriters and screenwriting scholars. The committee specifically seeks educators who intentionally integrate their screenwriting research into their pedagogy.” [source]
On presenting the award at their annual conference in Oxford, UK, the jury said:
“Bobette Buster has shown an unparalleled capacity for advancing screenwriting pedagogy at institutions such as USC and La Fémis, and at companies including Disney, Fox, and Pixar. Her approach, grounded not in formulas but in nuanced characters and transformative experiences, proves that teaching screenwriting can honour both the complexity of story and the human being while remaining practical for professionals at the highest level of cinema.”
